Alfano Welcomes Angelica Zara

Alfano Welcomes Angelica Zara

Central Islip School District welcomes Miss Angelica Zara as Alfano Elementary School's general music and chorus teacher. Miss Zara is a familiar face to Central Islip schools. Her appointment, under the recommendation of Superintendent of Schools Dr. Sharon A. Dungee and with unanimous approval by the Board of Education, follows her student teaching experience at Reed Middle School and O'Neill Elementary School in the general music/chorus disciplines.

Before coming to Central Islip, Miss Zara co-taught general music lessons for third- and fourth-grade special education classes at Lawrence Avenue Elementary in the Potsdam Central School District and conducted a mixed choir at Norwood-Norfolk High School in the Norwood-Norfolk Central School District.

Expressing her enthusiasm about teaching at Alfano Elementary School, Miss Zara noted, "I am so thrilled and so grateful to be able to teach at Alfano Elementary and am looking forward to a great school year teaching my students and working with my colleagues."

Miss Zara earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education with concentrations in Special Education and Voice from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, where she was on the President's List from 2021-2023. She is fluent in both English and Spanish, and is a Red Cross-certified lifeguard and CPR/AED certified.

In her spare time, Miss Zara enjoys singing, swimming, and reading.

The Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Sharon A. Dungee, administration, faculty, staff, and community congratulate Miss Zara as Alfano Elementary School's new music education teacher!
