Dear Alfano Families,

We would like to extend our warmest wishes for a happy and healthy New Year. After a long and well-deserved break, it has been a pleasure to welcome our students, teachers, and staff back to school.

Parent-Teacher Conferences will take place on January 15 and 16. Report cards will be available digitally through the Parent Portal later this month. To ensure access to your child’s report card, please be sure to register for the Parent Portal if you have not already done so.

We are currently accepting 2026–2027 Pre-K Lottery Applications from January 1 through March 23. The UPK Lottery will take place on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. Applications are available at all Central Islip schools and on the CIUFSD website. Parents interested in participating in the lottery may complete the application online or submit it in person at Alfano’s main office.

Attendance matters at Alfano. Daily attendance plays a critical role in student learning, growth, and success. When students are present every day and arrive on time, they are better able to engage in instruction, build strong routines, and stay connected to their school community. We appreciate your continued partnership in ensuring that your child attends school regularly. If challenges arise that impact attendance, please reach out to us—we are here to support our families.

As temperatures drop here in New York, please ensure that children are dressed appropriately for school and outdoor recess. Coats, hats, gloves or mittens, and boots are essential during this time of year. We also encourage families to check students’ home folders regularly for important school communications and to stay connected through ParentSquare.
