Principal’s Message

Mrs. Carmen Vazquez - Alfano Elementary Principal

Hello February!

As we begin a new month, our school continues to build upon the strong foundation we have established together. Our students have shown impressive growth both academically and socially, and their perseverance and positive character shine each day.

February brings many exciting opportunities for our school community. We are proud to celebrate Black History Month through meaningful and engaging learning experiences. Students will participate in Black History research in their classrooms and in Art, exploring the lives and contributions of notable African Americans. This learning will culminate in a special in-school Black History Month assembly, where students’ work will be celebrated together as a school community.

We are also looking forward to several special events this month. Join us at Central Islip High School on February 10th to cheer on CI staff as they play against the Harlem Wizards. We will also be hosting a Family Movie Night, providing another opportunity for families to come together and enjoy time as a school community. Kindness Day will be celebrated on the 100th day of school, along with P.S. I Love You Day

As a reminder, attendance matters. Being in school every day is essential for student learning, growth, and success. Each day of instruction builds upon the next, and consistent attendance helps students remain engaged, confident, and connected to their learning community. Thank you for your support in ensuring students arrive at school on time and ready to learn each day.

Your continued partnership and involvement strengthen our school community and support our students in reaching their full potential. Thank you for your ongoing support and engagement. Alfano is proud to be a place where every student can learn, grow, and thrive together.

Warmly,

Mrs. Vazquez
